Paris - December 2015

We spent the remainder of our trip in Paris and boy did we do a lot. The first day there M and I went to see the Eiffel Tower at night. The tower is overwhelmingly large and to come from such a young area like California, it is remarkable to see such history, architecture and scale. They do not build anything like it today.

We noticed as we were traveling throughout Paris it almost turned into a game of “spot Eiffel”. This really created for some lovely shots. The city of Paris was well thought out when it was planned, a lot of the well known major land marks are somewhat connected to each other with location. For example, the Arc de Triumph, Concorde and the Louvre are all lined up and on a clear day it is easy to see. The City spirals out with plenty to see everywhere.

One of the most meaningful sites we visited was Notre Dame. Not only was it a few blocks away from our hotel but the Church had significant meaning to M. His grandfather came to France during WWII entering from the D-day Beaches and found solace in Notre Dame.

We visited France the week of Christmas, this being our first Christmas together we were determined to make it special. This was out tree. Since M grew up on a Christmas tree farm, we were required to have a tree. We only had a little bit of time left on Christmas Eve so we ran around the streets of Paris looking for the perfect last minute plant. Luckily, we found the most perfect tree to go in out small hotel room. Right next to the cheap coffee maker.

In the days following Christmas we got in our last minute “must sees”. This included the Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, and Palace of Versailles.
