Madrid Day 2 – Spanish Palace and beautiful parks to stroll
We started the day with a hearty breakfast at Dunkin Donuts. Our first stop was the Spanish palace, we walked around the outside and took pictures. Later that night it opened up to the public for free to we decided to wait till then.
As we explored more of the city we found an Egyptian temple that the Spanish brought back from Egypt….like a souvenir….and not at all like stealing.
Honestly, there is not a whole lot to see in Madrid, but they do have a number of beautiful parks to get lost in. One park in particular was Retiro Park. Almost like the central park of Madrid, there is a pond, giant glass dome, and plenty of places to sit down for a drink.
We returned to the apartment until it was time to go back to the palace for free entry. Turns out it is only free if you are a European resident. Despite our French status…still not free. Pshhh
The palace was gorgeous, like a tiny Versailles. We were not allowed to take photos of the inside but we got a few before we entered.
Following our stroll around the palace we stopped for dinner. A bit of pizza, calamari, and pepper pork steak then in for the night.
