We’re Engaged!

The thing that was most important to M was that this was entirely a surprise.

Ever since we moved to Strasbourg we have been talking about walking to the top of the main cathedral in town. You can climb to the top and get the best view of the entire city.

We had been waiting to do it on the first of the month since tickets are free those days but we always had an excuse; it was raining, we were out of town, or just lazy…

On this Sunday M turned to me and just said, “Wanna go to the top of the Cathedral? Let’s just do it.” Completely casual.

So we got dressed, walked across the bridge infront of our apartment, bought two tickets and walked to the top. We talked for a bit, took photos overlooking the city, then he got down and asked me to marry him.

We got an applause and a family more then willing to take our photo.

I was completely shocked and had no idea it was coming.

After walking down from the cathedral we went and got a lock we have been holding onto for a while. We wrote our initials, a favorite bible verse of mine, and the date on the lock. Then went out to the bridge infront of our apartment, locked it, and threw the key into the river.

We spend the rest of the evening popping Champagne with swords…

…drinking wine, and calling our family.
